Frequently Asked Questions

1. What are Eyelash Extensions how are they applied?

Semi-permanent lash extensions are applied lash-by-lash, one at a time, with a safe, FDA approved surgical medical-grade adhesive. We recognize that everyone is unique with different eye shapes, needs and lifestyles, and we can easily customize a look for every individual client.

2. Will Eyelash Extensions cause my natural lashes to fall out?

Eyelash Extensions DO NOT cause natural eyelashes to fall out. Just like all other hairs on our bodies eyelashes will grow and shed in cycles. Your natural lash will shed with the extension attached and a new baby hair will grow in.

3.  Are Eyelash Extensions safe?

Yes! - When applied by a trained professional the application process is a safe, pain free and relaxing procedure. However, improper application by an unqualified and unlicensed eyelash technician can cause damage to your natural lashes or irritation. I recommend only using a Certified Eyelash Extensions Specialist. I am a Licensed Esthetician through the State of California and am 3 x Certified as well as accredited through the National Lash Artist Association.

4. How Long will it take?

Typically a full set of lashes will take 2-2.5 hours depending on which technique is being used and how many natural lashes you have. Every appointment starts with a thorough consultation. Fills or refresh appointments are 1 hour to 1.5 hours depending on how may lashes have been shed.

5. Can I apply mascara to the Eyelash Extensions?
No. Eyelash Extensions are designed to give your natural lashes an improved look of fullness and length. The extensions are black or dark brown in color so mascara is not needed. Most brands of mascara contain chemical properties and oils that will break down the adhesive.  Removing mascara from your lashes can cause the extensions to fall off prematurely as well.

6. Can I wear Make up ?

Yes! as long as its oil free and you make sure to remove all makeup every night with a lash safe make up remover.

7. What is a Fill and Why will I need one?

Fills or Re fresh appointments are follow up appointments typically booked every 2-3 weeks depending on the clients natural lash cycle as well as aftercare. As shown above, when the natural lash sheds, the extensions will fall off with it. During a fill appointment I will safely remove any grown out lashes and replace any extensions that have shed.

8. What if I only want lashes for a special occasion and don't  plan to book any fills?

I strongly recommend booking a patch test before any special occasion to ensure there are no sensitivities to any products or any allergy to the Adhesive. I suggest booking a patch test a least 72 hours before a full set. Then booking a full set two weeks prior to the event with one fill appointment right before to ensure there will be time to heal if anything pops up. We can schedule a time to have you extensions safely removed.

9. Can I take off my own extensions?

No. Never remove eyelash extensions yourself. Always seek professional removal. I offer complimentary removal for all my clients. Removing extensions yourself may result in permanent damage to your natural lashes.

10. How long do Eyelash Extensions Last?

With proper at home care, the adhesive will last anywhere from 6-8 weeks. However, most people lose on average 3-5 natural lashes a day per eye. After 2- 3 weeks, most clients will want to come in for a fill to keep their lashes looking full. There are many factors that could affect the retention of your extensions including improper home care, not cleaning the lash line, oily eyelids, the use of oil based products on or around the eyeline, medications, allergies, thyroid or hormonal issues, lifestyle, seasonal changes, a natural heavy lash shed, and so much more. If you do run into an issue with your retention, please contact me so we can troubleshoot and discuss next steps.
